The Idea

The idea is that you take the money you save from fasting everyday and give it to those who cannot afford to buy a meal. You offer them your meal and you will have the opportunity to experience what it is like to be hungry. At the end of the day you get to break your fast, but unfortunately many people around the world have no choice but to continue to fast.

Our Mission

According to, an estimated 7.6 million people (21,000 every day) die of hunger or hunger-related causes, or one person every four seconds ! UK Muslims in collaboration with One Ummah are launching this campaign to highlight the plight of the poor and starving around the world. Our mission is to feed One Million people every Ramadan, and eventually run this campaign throughout the year, God willing. We invite everyone regardless of their faith and background, wherever they may be in the world, to take part and join us in the fight against hunger.

The Benefits of Fasting

Fasting isn’t just an act of worship for Muslims but has also been proven to be great to detox your body, lose weight (as part of a healthy diet) and even delay the onset of age related diseases such as memory loss, dementia and Alzheimer’s according to professor Mark Mattson, who is a Professor of Neuroscience at Johns Hopkins University. His research also suggested Fasting leads to a significantly longer life.

More and more people are discovering the health benefits of going hungry for a short while each day. Whether you’re fasting to fulfil a religious obligation or to better your health, get more from your fast this Ramadan by joining us in this cause to rid the world of hunger and starvation.

How does it work?

The average cost of food per person per day varies depending on your eating habits and which part of the world you are. But whatever this cost is (we recommend $5), you time it by the number of days you fast (ideally 30 days) and donate that amount to the link below. But wait a minute .. don't forget to invite your friends and share this campaign on your social media with the hashtag #fastandgive :)
